Elizabeth McAfee has been drawing and painting all her life. Animals have always been a favorite subject of hers. Books and ideas have also been important influences on the artist, who received both her BA and MA in literature. Another major influence on her work was Sandy, the beautiful yellow tabby featured in so many of her paintings, who lived with the McAfees for 18 1/2 years until he passed on in July of 2003.
Elizabeth has lived in Asheville, NC, with her author/teacher husband, John P. McAfee, for over 25 years.
A note from Elizabeth : After 30 years in our Asheville home, my husband and I have moved down the road a little to the outskirts of Hendersonville , NC . Our home in the woods offers me an opportunity to have a gallery/studio that I can open by appointment to my customers. Over the next couple of years I hope to cut back on travel to and from shows and focus more on working closer to home.
