“All Around Town"
Artist Diane Dean will present a collection of mixed media and collaged works in resin of familiar and not so familiar Henderson County sights. Downtown street scenes, historic landmarks and some lost but now found icons of the past will be featured. The artist’s process begins with photo shoots. Photographs are then analyzed for architectural elements, contrast and possible composition. The works include acrylic poured backgrounds, paper, fabric, photographs, found objects and are finished with a resin pour.
Henderson County’s rich landscape inspired the artist to relocate here from Hilton Head Island. She is well known for her highly textured floral paintings, but has always had a passion for mixed media. During the Covid shut down, taking long drives was one activity with no restrictions. Like many of us, Diane took up this pastime. Diane said, “The winter months provide an opportunity to see the elements in many scenes not visible once the trees fill with leaves. The works include The Jackson Steel Company and its world famous Ferris wheel, the Flat Rock Playhouse, the historic buildings of downtown Hendersonville and the surrounding mountain views.
The show will run from May 1 – May 28. The artist will be at Art Mob throughout the month with talks scheduled for Mondays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Art Mob Studios and Marketplace is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sundays from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm. At 124 4th Avenue East in downtown Hendersonville. Free parking is adjacent to the building.
