Art has been a lifelong influence for Cheri Novak. Introduced to watercolor by her father, an artist, she developed an early appreciation for fine art through visits to the Detroit Institute of Arts. She later earned her undergraduate degree in Art History before pursuing a Juris Doctor and a career as an attorney and advocate for individuals with disabilities in Chicago, where she continued to find inspiration at the Art Institute of Chicago.

 

Now based in Hendersonville, Novak has returned to her artistic practice. Inspired by the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, her watercolors and collages are defined by vibrant color, expressive movement, and a deep connection to the surrounding landscape.
